Since 1904 Teemore Shamrocks has through its volunteer ethos, promoted Gaelic Games, culture and lifelong involvement in our community. As part of the wider GAA family, we are dedicated to ensuring our games, culture and ethos enrich the lives of our members, their families, and the community.
The Friends of Teemore, are and will be members who share a vision of the future of Teemore Shamrocks and it’s community for the next period of our growth and development. We are constantly evolving and the biggest change to both our Club and community over the last number of years, has been the growth of young families in the area leading to a welcome population increase. It is our desire as a club executive to provide state of the art facilities for these families as they continue to enrich our area.
We believe that Teemore Shamrocks plays an important role for everyone in the community. We believe that the young people of Teemore are important, they are our future club and county stars, they are our future community and club leaders. We passionately believe that the facility we envisage will provide all the strands needed to help them to flourish both on and off the field. Above all, we believe Teemore Shamrocks is a hugely positive and important contributor to the life and well-being of our community.
The provision of the best possible facilities will help achieve our commitment to active lifelong participation. In reaching out to and including all present and past members of our community, we aim to promote individual development and well-being and strive to enable all our members to achieve their full potential in their chosen roles. Teemore has always been able to compete with larger clubs because of our areas close knit bond to succeed; we believe with this ambitious plan we can continue to be successful both on and off the field, but it will not come without support, your support!
Teemore Shamrocks currently field teams from U6 to Senior level and run a general fundamental program for all children from Primary 1 – 7. We are also actively involved in supporting our local primary schools by providing coaching sessions, nurturing a love for GAA from a young age. Furthermore, we have made significant improvements to our gym facility, where a qualified club coach is now available to provide professional guidance and training programs. We believe in collaboration and are closely linked to two other clubs in the area, Knockninny Ladies and Naomh Aodhan, providing opportunities for our underage players to join these clubs. Additionally, we actively support the Irish language and culture through various activities, ensuring the preservation and celebration of our heritage.
We recently launched a Healthy Club initiative, focusing on community well-being. Walking and running events have been established, with plans for further development in the future. Our Healthy Club team organizes talks on healthy eating and mental health, as well as year-round social initiatives for all ages. We aim to enhance our grounds to benefit both the club and the wider community. To realize our long-term vision, we have introduced the ‘Friends of Teemore’ initiative.
